An iconic designer, Orla Kiely is known for her contemporary blend of retro prints and ultra-feminine designs. Since establishing the Orla Kiely brand in 1997, her collection has grown to include a complete womenswear fashion line and accessories, as well as travel and homeware.

Orla Kiely is a global brand with a presence in well-known retail outlets all over the world. With head office, design and sales based in London Orla Keily has stores in London, New York and Tokyo, as well as a global website. To service their global market the company has warehouses in 3 location, the UK, US and Hong Kong.  

Orla Kiely runs their business with the Datel clothing and footwear specific ERP solution Protex.  

Prior to talking to Datel, the company had recently implemented the Sage 200 suite replacing an out-of-date fashion industry solution they had outgrown. During the implementation of Sage 200 it became apparent that the company needed to heavily bespoke the Sage 200 Commercials and Manufacturing modules. The end result was some convoluted processes that the users had to work around with reporting being manually produced in Excel. It was difficult to have visibility of what was happening in the business and it was very time consuming to create reports.  

The team invited Datel a leading Sage reseller who also provided Protex, the specific ERP fashion solution, to carry out a system review. They felt Datel was well placed to understand the problems of attempting to implement Sage 200 in this specialist sector.  

The system review highlighted that Kiely Rowans processes did not map well onto the Sage Commercials and Manufacturing software modules and were not a good fit for their type of business. Datel recommended the implementation of the Protex ERP solution designed specifically for the fashion industry integrated with Sage 200 Financials.
